Dean Jackson is a writer and researcher focused on how media and technology shape democratic accountability. As an investigative analyst for the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, he led inquiries into the roles played by Meta, Twitter, and Google in the lead-up to the insurrection. He is currently a senior fellow at the University of Pittsburgh's Communication Research Technology Lab (CTRL) and a contributing editor at Tech Policy Press.
Before his work with the Select Committee, Dean spent a decade at leading policy research institutions, including eight years with the National Endowment for Democracy and two at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he focused on international affairs, information ecosystems, and technological governance. His writing has appeared in the Journal of Democracy, the Guardian, Lawfare, and other outlets.
